High Speed Internet Satellite Connections on Fire Over CMA Awards

>> Thursday, November 12, 2009

I'm hearing on the 'net that the CMA's this year were great. If the search engine traffic is anything to go by, what I'm hearing is true. The high speed internet satellite connections have been on fire!

Barbra Mandrell and Reba McEntire appeared on the show. I wish I'd seen that! I missed the show and several people I would have liked to see. My kids would have liked to see Carrie Underwood hosting the show (but they were grounded). I looked up who got what so if you're like me and missed them, here they are:

Entertainer of the Year: Taylor Swift
Album of the Year: Fearless, Taylor Swift
Male Vocalist of the Year: Brad Paisley
Female Vocalist of the Year: Taylor Swift
Single of the Year: "I Run to You," Lady Antebellum

Music Video of the Year: "Love Story," Taylor Swift
Vocal Group of the Year: Lady Antebellum
Vocal Duo of the Year: Sugarland
Best New Artist of the Year: Darius Rucker

*I found these over at EOnline if you want to find out more about it.

Kanye West is a Jerk at MTV VMAs

>> Monday, September 14, 2009

What a jackass.

Reports say there was an apology on his blog to Taylor Swift (Rolling Stone quoted it..was a half-ass apology in my opinion) but when I went to Kanye's blog, I couldn't find it. Was it moved? Removed? Maybe my eyes need to be checked but even people on his blog are wondering where it went so I don't think so. Maybe it'll reappear later.

Katy Perry at Hollywood Palladium

>> Thursday, August 13, 2009

Katy Perry is scheduled to perform at the Hollywood Palladium on August 29, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. I wonder if her shows are as quirky as she seems to be.

Other shows lined up this year include Paramore on October 1st (they'd be fantastic to see in person I think) and Bob Dylan from October 13 - October 15, 2009.

The Hollywood Palladium is a huge venue, not to be confused with palladium jewelry like palladium rings, with a dance floor for up to 4,000 people. I can't even imagine the size of this place or the amount of fun energy expended. Sounds like a blast!

Joe Jonas Does "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)"

>> Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Oh. My. Gosh. I don't know what else to say. I'm speechless.

OK, I better talk a bit about it. I've seen this done by many different people since Beyonce released the video to her song, Single Ladies (Put a ring on it), but seeing Joe Jonas in heels and a bodysuit doing this song just made my jaw drop.

It's popular with my Joe Jonas loving daughter. She wants me to email it everywhere to show everybody. Maybe pre-teens and teenagers would like seeing Joe Jonas in a bodysuit but not me. I always thought he was a cute kid but I wouldn't have the guts to do something like this.

It is obviously a publicity stunt for their new CD (Lines, Vines and Trying Times) releasing on June 16th but wow! That video will NEVER disappear. Hope he never wants to run for office!

51st Annual Grammy Awards

>> Sunday, February 8, 2009

The show started out with news that Chris Brown and Rihanna would not be showing up to perform tonight as scheduled. No excuse was given for Rihanna, however, news reports online claim that Chris Brown is being investigated for felony battery against a woman he was allegedly with last night. Perhaps that's why Rihanna isn't there tonight?

Now onto the 51st Annual Grammy Awards ~

U2 opened the awards with a psychedelic screen show during their performance. Other performers seen tonight on stage are:

  • Justin Timberlake with Keith Urban, Al Green & Boyz II Men
  • Carrie Underwood
  • Jonas Brothers (performing with Stevie Wonder - WOW!)
  • Justin Timberlake & TI
  • Jennifer Hudson
  • Katy Perry (Is she being lowered to the stage in a banana or a model of a female part? Oh, it's a banana!)
  • Kid Rock (double nominee tonight)
  • Sir Paul McCartney (introduced by one of my husband's favorite, Kate Beckinsale) with Dave Grohl (drums)
  • Lil Wayne, TI, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and M.I.A. (very pregnant) performing "Swagga Like Us"
  • Radiohead
  • Sugarland & Adele
  • Taylor Swift & Miley Cyrus (perform "Fifteen" together)
  • Kanye West w/Estelle
  • Kenny Chesney (introduced by Morgan Freeman)
  • Neil Diamond
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Now here are some of the GRAMMY WINNERS:

Best R & B Album: Jennifer Hudson
Best Country Performance Duo or Group w/Vocals: "Stay" by Sugarland
Song of the Year: Coldplay for "Viva La Vida"
Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals: Robert Plant & Allison Krauss
Best Rock Album: Coldplay (dressed in, what they call, Sgt. Pepper jackets)
Best New Artist: Adele
Best Male Pop Vocal Performance: John Mayer for "Say"
Best Rap Album: Lil Wayne
Record of the Year: Alison Krauss & Robert Plant for "Please Read The Letter"
Album of the Year: Robert Plant & Alison Krauss

Craig Ferguson is on-stage right now. I love him! He's adorable and naughty at the same time. His spiel had Kate Beckinsale covering her child's ears.

Barack Obama received a Grammy for spoken word for his audiobook last year. Huh, didn't know that.

Britney Spears' If You Seek Amy Song on Circus CD

>> Thursday, January 29, 2009

Talk is that Britney Spears' "If You Seek Amy" is Britney's "not so clever" play on words. In other words, it is a way to say "F*ck Me" and get away with disguising explicit lyrics. What do you think?

Here are the lyrics:

"Love me hate me
Say what you want about me
But all of the boys and all of the girls are beggin' to If You Seek Amy
Love me hate me
But can't you see what I see
All of the boys and all of the girls are beggin' to If You Seek Amy"

Here is the meaning of the not so clever play on words:

But all of the boys and all of the girls are beggin to F U C K ME

IF=F
YOU=U
SEE=C
KA=K
MY=ME

If this doesn't break any explicit lyrics rules, it'll be played on the radio where a child can hear it. You know a majority of the kids are going to know what it is really saying...it'll be the talk at school. How do you feel about your child singing this song?

Connie Talbot, Child Singer With Great Talent

My sister sent me a link of a little girl singing on the Ellen show. I had never heard of Connie Talbot before so I watched it and then went to YouTube to find some more. My kids watched videos with me for awhile.

Watching this one made me cry:

I would imagine we are going to be hearing a lot from this little girl in the coming years.
