51st Annual Grammy Awards

>> Sunday, February 8, 2009

The show started out with news that Chris Brown and Rihanna would not be showing up to perform tonight as scheduled. No excuse was given for Rihanna, however, news reports online claim that Chris Brown is being investigated for felony battery against a woman he was allegedly with last night. Perhaps that's why Rihanna isn't there tonight?

Now onto the 51st Annual Grammy Awards ~

U2 opened the awards with a psychedelic screen show during their performance. Other performers seen tonight on stage are:

  • Justin Timberlake with Keith Urban, Al Green & Boyz II Men
  • Carrie Underwood
  • Jonas Brothers (performing with Stevie Wonder - WOW!)
  • Justin Timberlake & TI
  • Jennifer Hudson
  • Katy Perry (Is she being lowered to the stage in a banana or a model of a female part? Oh, it's a banana!)
  • Kid Rock (double nominee tonight)
  • Sir Paul McCartney (introduced by one of my husband's favorite, Kate Beckinsale) with Dave Grohl (drums)
  • Lil Wayne, TI, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and M.I.A. (very pregnant) performing "Swagga Like Us"
  • Radiohead
  • Sugarland & Adele
  • Taylor Swift & Miley Cyrus (perform "Fifteen" together)
  • Kanye West w/Estelle
  • Kenny Chesney (introduced by Morgan Freeman)
  • Neil Diamond

Craig Ferguson is on-stage right now. I love him! He's adorable and naughty at the same time. His spiel had Kate Beckinsale covering her child's ears.

Barack Obama received a Grammy for spoken word for his audiobook last year. Huh, didn't know that.
