Rod Stewart Trying for 8th Child at Age 64

Rod Stewart recently announced he and his wife, Penny Lancaster Stewart, are trying to have a baby. At the age of 64 with seven kids already, he said an 8th child would be his last. I think I should get an invitation to the baby shower so I can check out the baby shower favors at a celebrity event! It'd probably make my car payment at least.

We all know Rod has the money but does he have the energy (and life span) to see the child grow up? I hope so.

I wonder if he serenades his wife with Hot Legs or Do You Think I'm Sexy? Maybe it depends on the mood he's going for.

Celebrity Baby News

Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) gave birth to a baby girl in May and she managed to keep it fairly quiet. Way to keep a secret! The baby's name is Shaelyn. What a pretty name.

Something else kept under wraps for a long time (in the world of celebrity that is) is that Tobey Maguire named their son Otis. He was also born in May.

Maya Rudolph (Saturday Night Live aka SNL) is expecting.

Gisele Bundchen is expecting.

Ferdinand Torres (soccer pro) and his wife are due to have their baby in a few weeks.

I'm wondering...do you think personalized baby gifts are popular with celebrities? Some of them come up with some really odd names!

Celebrity Baby News This Past Week

There was all kinds of celebrity expecting news this past week...

• Alonzo Mourning (recently retired from the NBA) and his wife are expecting their third child.
• Jeffrey Tambor and his wife are expecting twins! Jeffrey is 64 and his wife is 41. Jeffrey has a new movie out right now - Hangover.
• Jennifer Hudson is due in August.
• Brandon Flowers (The Killers) and his wife are expecting their second child.
• Shannon Miller (Olympic Gymnast) and her husband are expecting their first child together.

Hollywood sure has been getting busy! Imagine the extravagant baby showers being held on the west coast. I'd like to be a fly on the wall to see how the other half lives - luxury, fine dining, and baby gifts galore!

I think personalized baby gifts are the best gifts to give and receive. Most other gifts are used and then passed onto other siblings or sold at garage sales (well, not in Hollywood but in my neighborhood). Personalized baby gifts are kept and treasured and then passed onto that child when they are adults. I have every personalized baby gift I ever received for my children put away to give them when they're older.

Tori Spelling Poses Pregnant in Maternity Suit

Celebrities seemed to have cleared the way for wearing a swimsuit while pregnant. When I was pregnant, I never saw pregnant women in maternity suits. In fact, I never even took a picture of my bare pregnant belly! Now I see them everywhere posing in their proud pregnant state or just lifting their top for a quick picture to keep. I've watched my younger sisters post their baby bump pictures in a maternity suit on Facebook!


Take, for instance, Tori Spelling posing with the obvious baby bump in several different bikinis in magazines recently. She seems very proud of her maternal body, like a lot of other celebrities who choose to pose in a maternity swimsuit (or less if you are Demi Moore who paved the way for it years ago).

The Baby Boom in Hollywood

There is a lot of baby news in the celebrity world this week:

• Halle Berry was recently voted Hollywood's Sexiest Mom by Popeater. A few years ago, I would have thought it would be Angelina Jolie but she seems to have fallen out of favor with a lot of people and slipped into a tie for second. I think she's still beautiful myself.
• Tahlia Brookins (former contestant on America's Next Top Model) is pregnant.
• Of course, you've probably all heard that supermodel, Heidi Klum, is pregnant again. Internet reports say this will be her last child.
• Sarah Michelle Gellar (remember Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is pregnant with her first child.
• Nicole Richie is pregnant with her second child.
• There is a rumor that Jennifer Aniston is going to adopt a child. I definitely only see that as a rumor with little meat to it right now. There is always a rumor about Jennifer Aniston floating around, most of which don't come true. I'll believe this one when I actually see her with a child she's adopted.

It seems like everybody is pregnant but me. There definitely seems to be a bit of a baby boom going on in Hollywood right now with celebrities showing off baby bumps in fashionable maternity clothes. I sure wish trendy maternity clothes had been around 13 years ago when I started having babies.

Wanda Sykes, Rush Limbaugh & Twins

Everybody is talking about what Wanda Sykes said about Rush Limbaugh at the White House Correspondents Dinner last week. I've heard all about it countless times, but did you know she and her wife had twins at the end of April? Surprised the heck out of me. I didn't even know she was gay. Then I read that Wanda Sykes was openly gay. Wow. I must be living under a rock.

Kelly Clarkson Pregnant?

Rumor is that Kelly Clarkson is pregnant. I'm not sure why the rumor started after she performed on American Idol but we all know that the rags speculate about every female celebrity at one time or another if they wear something that doesn't flatter the abdominal area to their industry standards or have a little weight gain. Who knows. Only time will tell (unless she does first).

Celebrity News Today - March 2, 2009

Well, it seems as if the rumors about Rihanna and Chris Brown are true. They are back together, apparently staying at Sean Combs' (P. Diddy, Puff Daddy...etc. etc.) home with pics of Chris Brown enjoying himself on a jet ski. Whatever. A man does that to you what the police pictures show was done to Rihanna, you don't go back to the jackbutt. I won't be buying either one of their CD's for my kids...not good role models.

Miley Cyrus was seen jogging with her boyfriend, Justin Gaston, and E Online is making something scandalous over a picture in which part of Miley's bikini top was showing at the top of her shirt. They are calling it a "half-naked run." Stupid. A lot of men jog without shirts on and Miley is dressed. People run in jogging bras all the time and Miley is more covered than that. I'd be a lot more concerned about the age difference (no way would my daughter be allowed, at 16, to date a 20-year-old). This is Hollywood. They don't live in our reality.

The NFL players who have been missing have not been found yet. Nick Schuyler has been found west of Tampa Bay, however, he is just one out of a total of four men who were missing. He was found with the boat. The other three are still missing - Corey Smith (former Detroit Lions player), Marquis Cooper (Oakland Raiders), and Will Beakley. No word yet on what he has said about the other three missing. It's not looking good at all.

It is being reported that Ed McMahon has bone cancer and is in intensive care. He turns 86 on Friday.

Molly Ringwald is due to have twins in August. I still like to watch Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles.

Britney Spears hasn't sold out her concert in New Orleans as of this morning. I wonder if she expected to.

Current news is that Molly Ringwald is pregnant with twins - one of each by the way if you're wondering whether it'll be sons or daughters for her. Babies make two more to add to her family (husband, Panio Gianopoulos, and five year old daughter, Mathilda).
