Orange County

>> Saturday, August 22, 2009

Orange County (California) is home to over three million people and it's attractions have been shown in countless movies and television shows like:

  • The O.C. (that's a given eh?)
  • Closing scene from Rain Man.
  • Arrested Development
  • A scene from Gilligan's Island was filmed there (the opening scene)...guess it really wasn't a deserted island eh?
  • A scene from a Borat film.
  • A scene from Kindergarten Cop.
  • Scene from Fast and the Furious.

Celebrities who have lived in Orange County include Tiger Woods, John Wayne, Dennis Rodman, Gwen Stefani, Bonnie Raitt, Kevin Costner, Michelle Pfeiffer, and more.

Besides the celebrity appeal, it is home to several Fortune 500 companies, boasts well-known shopping districts, and is a huge tourist attraction. Computer services, like orange county computer services through Click Consulting, provide computer services to the area. It's not just known for its celebrity, businesses, and shopping though. Disneyland Resort is there!

Stars Are Shaving Their Heads

>> Thursday, August 20, 2009

Ok, when Britney did it, it was the talk of the nation and in a negative way. Now celebrities are doing it as a fashion statement? Rihanna, Carmen Electra, Solange Knowles are a few of the well-known celebrities who have buzzed some parts of their heads.

I am not sure why though. If it's supposed to be the next new trend, I hope nobody is expecting me to get the clippers out. The only buzz cuts in this house are for my husband and my son. Do they think if they put on a cool pair of Sports Sunglasses, they'll look cool and fashionable? Unless the glasses are big enough to hide their heads, I don't think so! You have to have really good bone structure through your face, head, and neck to pull this one off.

Jon Gosselin Fired

That's the rumor anyway, but for now, it's just a rumor that he's being fired from Jon & Kate Plus 8. Some say he is trying to get fired from TLC on purpose so he can start another reality show. I wonder what that show would be?

Jon: How to exploit children, cheat, and date any female that will say "yes"?

That's kind of long. I'm sure he'll come up with something shorter. Apparently, the new show would be about divorced dads and involves 24/7 cameras. Big surprise there. Will those poor kids ever get out of sight from cameras? Poor things. I refused to watch Jon & Kate and I certainly won't watch any new one he, or she, does.

TLC should hand him some consolation gifts and let him out of Jon & Kate shows. It doesn't sound like he'll be hurting for something to do, or money, if they do. He should be able to afford to live the lifestyle he wants, off of his children, while the rest of us pinch pennies and work hard to provide necessities for our own families and raise our children responsibly. I don't think he'll be shopping for rooster dinnerware soon. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with a Playboy bunny on his plates in his new place. That's the impression I get of him. He seems more like a player than a regular person with children depending on him.

Organic Celebrities

>> Tuesday, August 18, 2009

We see a lot of celebrities jump on the train to promote a group like the environment or world hunger and how many of us wonder if they really care? How many celebrities really care? Which ones do it for the publicity and which ones do it because they feel they should?

Jorja Fox (CSI) did a public service announcement for the Union of Concerned Scientists for a healthier environment. Woody Harrelson and Sting want Bluefin Tuna taken off of sushi menus because they're nearing extinction. Reports are that Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez, and Julia Roberts all prefer organic baby products. Do they go for all organic baby clothes or do they buy a few pieces only? Cindy Crawford used to make her own baby food!

It's hard to know what the reasons are, if they really care. I'd like to ask them myself if they do. I'm curious. Of course, it'd probably result in a canned sound bite that their publicist fed to them.

What's Napoleon Dynamite Up To?

>> Saturday, August 15, 2009

I was wondering what Jon Heder (played Napoleon Dynamite in 2004) was up to so I looked him up. My stepdaughter loved the movie (and him). He was cool at the time (to her), but I didn't get the geek factor for a crush. That kind of comedy just didn't appeal to me.

He's grown up since then and I can see a little cuteness in there now. So, what's he been up to since he played the nerd that all pre-teens had a crush on back then?

Jon Heder is in several episodes of a television production called Woke Up Dead for 2009 and a 2010 production called Alive and Well. He seems to be doing okay.

I wonder if he'll hold any appeal now that he's not quite so geeky to the now teenaged crowd who crushed on him five years ago. He's come a ways from the nerd who looked like pocket protectors would be on his school supply list. Maybe somebody told him that amodex gets ink out so pocket protectors aren't necessary anymore?

Celebrity Sightings in Wax

I want to see the wax figures of the stars at Madame Tussauds Hollywood. Nicole Kidman is there, along with Robin Williams and Johnny Depp. I would love to see Johnny Depp. In fact, I'd like to bring his wax figure home with me. He's such a great actor! Jennifer Lopez and Salma Hayek have their images in wax as well.

If you like the old-time movie stars, James Dean, Clark Gable, and Audrey Hepburn can be viewed. Pop stars like Justin Timberlake, Shakira and Beyonce are there. Who wouldn't want to see Justin Timberlake, wax or not?

I wonder if the Diamond necklaces wax figures are real?

Katy Perry at Hollywood Palladium

>> Thursday, August 13, 2009

Katy Perry is scheduled to perform at the Hollywood Palladium on August 29, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. I wonder if her shows are as quirky as she seems to be.

Other shows lined up this year include Paramore on October 1st (they'd be fantastic to see in person I think) and Bob Dylan from October 13 - October 15, 2009.

The Hollywood Palladium is a huge venue, not to be confused with palladium jewelry like palladium rings, with a dance floor for up to 4,000 people. I can't even imagine the size of this place or the amount of fun energy expended. Sounds like a blast!

Shemar Moore Breaks Leg

Shemar Moore of one of my favorite shows, Criminal Minds, broke his leg when he was hit by a car while biking over this past weekend. He's a good-looking guy eh?
