Miley Cyrus Fashion Line at Wal-Mart

>> Thursday, July 30, 2009

I'm excited! Miley Cyrus has a clothing line at Wal-Mart that just launched! She's teamed up with the famous designer, Max Azria to bring my tween daughter the style of clothes she likes. I like Wal-Mart's prices! I'm jumping for joy that I get to avoid the mall for another year!

Celebrities Love Yellow Gold

Celebrities love their jewelry. It's popular to wear it on the red carpet - from tasteful to gaudy. Some celebrities do get a bit more gaudy than others.

Yellow gold jewelry, like Nelly's yellow gold necklace, was popular this last year. I'm surprised there's not a bit more bling on it with diamonds myself but it is definitely eye-catching. Yellow gold diamond necklaces offer the best of both worlds in my opinion! I am a diamond girl though. I have always been a diamond girl and will probably always be a diamond girl.

Timbaland Married

>> Monday, July 13, 2009

Did you ever notice that when celebrities get engaged or married, all the attention is on the ring on the woman's finger. In reality, the men may have some pretty snazzy wedding rings on as well.

For instance, Timbaland presented the mother of his baby with a 12-carat canary diamond ring when he asked her to marry him. They were together six years before this. There was no mention of his ring.

How come we always hear about the women's rings when celebrities get engaged or married but we never hear bout the mens rings? They always talk about the size of the women's rings. I want to see what the male half of the celebrity couple is wearing too!

I didn't even know the hugely talented Timbaland is a married man. A belated congratulations to them both!

Maura Tierney Needs Eight Weeks Off

>> Friday, July 10, 2009

Maura Tierney's new drama, Parenthood, is being pushed back to mid-season due to an "eight-week medical evaluation" that Maura needs. No details were given on what was wrong but eight weeks? Sounds like something major that they'll be treating or she'll be recovering from. It definitely sounds like she'll be surrounded by doctors in lab coats for sometime.

I wish her the best for whatever this is. It sounds like something major. I hope not. I really like her. She seems "normal" on a celebrity scale. You know "normal" doesn't seem to happen very often in Hollywood.

Michael Jackson: Innocent Until Proven Guilty

>> Tuesday, July 7, 2009

In the United States, we have a presumption of innocence (innocent until proven guilty). Michael Jackson was tried and acquitted by a jury in 2005 of the 14 counts against him. He was found not guilty and walked out a free man. Why is he still presumed guilty?

Rep. Peter King (New York) had this to say:

"He was a pervert, a child molestor; he was a pedophile. And to be giving this much coverage to him, day in and day out, what does it say about us as a country?"

He was ACQUITTED by a jury! Who can prove without a reasonable doubt that Michael Jackson was guilty? Anybody? Not Peter King I would imagine. I find it funny that a politician has something so harshly critical to say when so many politicians have so many skeletons hanging in their closets, they probably need crowd control for all of them. If he can't respect a decision made in a court of law, a government institution, then perhaps he should give up his own government job.

The man is dead. He was a musical genius. If people want to celebrate the life of a man who was acquitted of charges, who brought them years of joy in his music, then let them! At a time when children are burying their father, I think critics should shut the heck up at least until he's at his final resting place. This man, no matter what your opinion of him, had children. If his daughter's speech at his memorial service is any indication, those children adored their daddy. Let them grieve for their father without having to worry about things adults should know better than to say in an arena where they could hear it. Would Peter King walk up to Michael Jackson's kids and say that? If not, shut your mouth.

I usually watch Fox News but I have to say that I am disappointed in their coverage last night on Hannity on this topic. The Federal Prosecutor they had on the show who was claiming he was guilty, despite being acquitted...I really have to question her legal education. It also makes me question Hannity's judgment as well, which is disappointing.

I hope despite the crucifying of Michael Jackson by the media and others, despite the acquittal, I hope he felt loved while he was alive.

Michael's Daughter, Paris, Speaks at Memorial

...and it made me cry.

Seeing a child deal with the grief over the loss of a parent she obviously loved brought me to tears. Whatever your opinion of Michael Jackson, Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson obviously adored her daddy.

"Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine," she said, her tiny voice cracking. "And I just wanted to say I love him — so much."

Watching her struggle to say this and then throwing herself into her aunt's arms...we forget that behind all of the celebrity, these are just kids who have been protected as much as possible by their father from all the media frenzy. They're kids.

Celebrity Baby News

>> Monday, July 6, 2009

Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) gave birth to a baby girl in May and she managed to keep it fairly quiet. Way to keep a secret! The baby's name is Shaelyn. What a pretty name.

Something else kept under wraps for a long time (in the world of celebrity that is) is that Tobey Maguire named their son Otis. He was also born in May.

Maya Rudolph (Saturday Night Live aka SNL) is expecting.

Gisele Bundchen is expecting.

Ferdinand Torres (soccer pro) and his wife are due to have their baby in a few weeks.

I'm wondering...do you think personalized baby gifts are popular with celebrities? Some of them come up with some really odd names!

Pictures of Michael Jackson Dead

>> Friday, July 3, 2009

I'm seeing reports that OK Magazine paid about half a million dollars for the rights to publish pictures of Michael Jackson on the stretcher. I've read it is of him as he lay dying. Wasn't he basically dead at home since he was never revived unless there's a news report I haven't seen yet?

OK Magazine - that is in very poor taste, bad judgment and just outright disgusting! Have some respect! Who would want a death photo of Michael Jackson or anybody for that matter?
